Good morning,

The term “developed” and “third-world” nations should not apply to only matters economy and infrastructure.

Comparing, for example, our political environment with that of developed nations like the United States, we are still lagging behind, just like our economy.

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the United States electorate has already started voting, a week ahead of the actual election date.

Can you imagine such a scenario happening in Kenya?

If votes cast on the actual Election day always bring up rigging disputes, how chaotic would the voting period be, if we had like seven different days of voting in the country?

Instead of converging to heckle and scold one another in public, our leaders need to use their time to learn about political decorum.

We suggest a benchmarking trip to the US, now that the country has all the money to even conduct a Constitutional referendum.

Meanwhile, here are the stories making headlines on Opera News today:

Striking Matatu Operators Decry Neglect By Uhuru, Raila Odinga

Rowdy matatu crew.

The Association of Matatu Operators has announced a nationwide strike beginning Tuesday citing punitive Covid-19 protocols.

Ibrahim accused the government of neglecting the matatu sector. “On Tuesday, across the country, all matatus must go on strike. I would like to tell our leaders, Hon Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta, they have neglected our matatu industry,” he said.
